Hello, I am Rebecca, an illustrator and a live sketch artist based in Chorley, Lancashire.

I am a wife and mother of two and ex high school teacher and curriculum leader that taught within a large multicultural academy trust across a number of different creative subjects.

I started my business, New Cards on the Block, in August 2021 as an outlet for my creativity which wasn’t being harnessed within my day job. I initially began with illustrations for greetings cards and within the first year that grew into other printed products, bespoke wedding stationery and commissions. I left my full time role in July 2022 to fully concentrate on my growing business. In 2023 I expanded to incorporate live illustration for weddings, events and businesses.

I now employ a number of people to support me so that I can fully concentrate on the illustration side of things.

My bespoke wedding stationery is quirky and light hearted, which stands out from the traditional font based designs. I use my hand drawn sketches to make each piece personal to the client I am working with. It is my belief that your stationery should reflect your personality, hobbies and interests to make it unique to you. That initial invitation or save the date that you send out to family and friends should begin to build the excitement for what’s ahead.

By creating those personalised touches that start conversations, these are the things that in time people will remember fondly and reflect on for years to come. Whether that be from live sketching on the day or from when the invitation drops through guests letter boxes.

My illustration style is very fashion based which has easily led me into live fashion sketching at weddings.

By using moments in time to capture how someone looks on the day, gives them that perfect gift to take home with them as a memento, it’s such a great conversation starter and ice breaker
